Job Title: Director, Embeded & DSP Software Development
Experience Required:
Real Time embedded software development for Wireline and/or Wireless applications. A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in software development (C, C++) of low level device drivers, protocol stacks for embedded platform(s) using ARM, MIPS or such controllers. Must have direct experience in using Embedded Linux and any of the other popular versions like VxWorks, Nucleus or ThreadX. Must have a strong background in Networking protocols. Exposure to DSP algorithms for voice and video even if not directly involved in implementation projects.
Must have spent the last 3-4 years in a management role with responsibilities for project deliveries and technical liason.
Desirable:
Experience with J2ME and J2EE technologies and multimedia related software development. Direct experience in working with offshore engineering teams and executing software design services. Startup experience is desirable.
Responsibilites:

Work closely with Marketing and Systems group to define product requirements.

Manage a group of 30 software engineers ranging in experience from junior through senior level. These engineers will be working on off shore projects and with customers primarily in the USA. Areas of technical responsibility includes UNIX-based and Windows NT/.net OS storage device driver development on x86/Itanium-based computing platforms.
Primary technical responsibilities include: Leading a team responsible for the porting, developing, and tuning UNIX-based and Windows operating system software to run efficiently on a variety of computational platforms. Working closely with the hardware development team to resolve and prevent technical problems Working closely with the rest of the software development team to define and develop appropriate software platform features, and timelines for their delivery. Working closely with the QA team to insure that the products are easily testable and of high quality. Staying abreast of current technical developments in the areas mentioned above. Using modern software engineering techniques to facilitate concurrent development by a variety of engineers. Developing a testing infrastructure and methodologies that will detect software problems early in the development process.
Primary non-technical responsibilities include: Developing plans which implement the aforementioned strategies, while concurrently mitigating risks. Allocation of engineering and hardware resources to achieve these plans Developing and communicating crisp schedules to the team as well as to senior management, and executing to these schedules. Proactively identifying areas of program risk and recommending plans of action to mitigate these risks. Balancing the requirements of next-generation product development with the requirements of supporting a set of demanding existing customers.
